Post-Markov master equation for the dynamics of open quantum systems
A systematic first-order correction to the standard Markov master equation for open quantum systems interacting with a bosonic bath is presented. It extends the Markov Lindblad master equation to the more general case of non-Markovian evolution. The meaning and applications of our ‘post’-Markov master equation are illustrated with several examples, including a damped twolevel atom, the spin-bos...
متن کاملDesigning a quantum genetic controller for tracking the path of quantum systems
Based on learning control methods and computational intelligence, control of quantum systems is an attractive field of study in control engineering. What is important is to establish control approach ensuring that the control process converges to achieve a given control objective and at the same time it is simple and clear. In this paper, a learning control method based on genetic quantum contr...
متن کاملBerry phase in open quantum systems: a quantum Langevin equation approach
In his seminal work [1] Berry showed the appearance of a purely geometrical phase factor associated to the non degenerate eigenstates of a Hamiltonian undergoing a cyclic adiabatic evolution. Since then much work has been done to generalize such concept to non cyclic, non degenerate or non adiabatic evolution [2]. The renewed interest for geometric phases in a quantum computation scenario [3, 4...
متن کاملopen quantum systems
Quantum mechanics must be regarded as open systems. On one hand, this is due to the fact that, like in classical physics, any realistic system is subjected to a coupling to an uncontrollable environment which influences it in a non-negligible way. The theory of open quantum systems thus play a major role in many applications of quantum physics since perfect isolation of quantum system is not po...
متن کاملA Diffusion Equation for Quantum Adiabatic Systems
For ergodic adiabatic quantum systems, we study the evolution of energy distribution as the system evolves in time. Starting from the von Neumann equation for the density operator, we obtain the quantum analogue of the Smoluchowski equation on coarse-graining over the energy spectrum. This result brings out the precise notion of quantum diffusion.
